500 head CATTLE YARDS

North of Clermont, Central QLD
Designed, built and working without shutting the station down. The build was staged so the old yards kept working while the new ones went in alongside; once the new yards were running, the old ones were partly demolished and new holding yards finished the job. A traditional teardrop force feeds a curved snake race, a 5-way pound draft handles up to 500 head, and a purpose-built calf race sits right beside the main working area. The bugle-shaped layout keeps cattle flowing. Holding capacity is 1,000 to 1,500 head, or 200 to 300 head for stays longer than 24 hours.
